in far eastern tradition and teachings, herbs and nutrition have always been thought of to be our medicine.
although nourishment is far gentler than herbs.
healing meals, together with transforming nourishment through different ways of preparation. chosen with thought of inner imbalance of climates, flavours, organ networks,..
for protection.
or to support herbal leaves and roots in their element.

words on wheat
.
just like a herb like sage cools the heat of the Heart and Blood, evening out dryness — so does the grain wheat. cooling in its natural form. along the Sheng sequence it nourishes the Yin side, holding an affinity to the organ network heart. it is born in spring, but finds its way to summer, belonging to summer medicine (in particular sprouted wheat).

for a body that resembles a dry straw needing cooling and moisturizing.
brings nourishment and cooling to the Heart.
to balance out the Heat and drought (of body fluids) of summer.
to be avoided if Ki stagnations or transformative spleen weakness and dampness, and inner coldness are present.

as opposed to a grain like rye which is of warming nature and represents the season autumn.
while barley helps drain moisture from the spleen, removing accumulated fluids from the body.
buckwheat dissolves and drains congealed phlegm.

thymeless. summer medicine. with vild hvede.

part one
·
A little afternoon tea picnic.
Tea conversations.
with Sarah.

we will share pure tea brewed from herbs growing in vild hvede´s beautiful garden, wild farm fields and forests in late june.

words on `summer medicine`, `the body as our inner garden` and traditional eastern medicine translated into local herbs —
where the season summer stands for the element fire, the organ network heart and small intestine, and the element heat.
reminding us that nature and its seasons, cycles, climates, elements,.. can be found within our bodies too.
a practice of using the senses and connecting roots and branches — to see what is going on within.
of translating the language of our bodies.
and combining herbs for a pattern of imbalance.
we will touch on some signs that might show when our inner summer,  the root organ heart is out of balance
— like restlessness, disturbed sleep, inflammation of the small intestine, palpitations, dryness and redness of the skin.. and some chosen herbs to mend.

part two

Herbal bread making.

when the elements of grains, herbs and water are shaped by the warmth of caring hands — into a loaf of bread.
together with dear Emilie, Anna and @vildhvede we will make some nutritious herbal sourdough bread — combining their most precious grains with herbs. some herbal honey will be made, some more tea prepared and shared together with the warm summer bread in the shade of the trees in the garden.
